Look back on the albums that Mick Taylor played on...this was some of the best tunes the Stones ever laid down. Sorry Ronnie Wood but Mick was the man on lead!
Colonel Blimp
No matter what your opinion of the Stones is, you can't deny they performed the definitive covers of Mr. Berry.
Stuart McNulty
Surprise yall but that badass lead ain't Micky T. Its my man good ole Keef Richards. Rock n' Roll baby, gotta love it

Cheers to Chuck Berry. The Stones did more than homage to him.

Oh Carol, don't let him steal your heart away I'm gonna learn to dance if it takes me all night and day Climb into my machine so we can cruise on out I know a swingin' little joint where we can jump and shout It's not too far back off the highway, not so long a ride You park your car out in the open, you can walk inside A little cutie takes your hat and you can thank her, ma'am Every time you make the scene you find the joint is jammed Oh Carol, don't let him steal your heart away I'm gonna learn to dance if it takes me all night and day And if you want to hear some music like the boys are playin' Hold tight, pat your foot, don't let 'em carry it away Don't let the heat overcome you when they play so loud Oh, don't the music intrigue you when they get a crowd You can't dance, I know you wish you could I got my eyes on you baby, 'cause you dance so good Oh Carol, don't let him steal your heart away I'm gonna learn to dance if it takes me all night and day Don't let him steal your heart away I've got to learn to dance if it takes you all night and day Oh Carol Songwriters: by Chuck Berry in 1958

Chuck Berry's original version sounds LAME compared to the Stones here. Further proof that real Rock N' Roll music was the White Man's creation.

The main guitar riff gets all the attention, but listen also to how the bass guitar and rhythm guitar focus on the lower bass frequencies and have a great workout there to fill out the sound. Rock and roll and country often leave behind the bass region and go twang on everything, but this is rock and roll with deep rich bass and a Gibson-tone rhythm guitar filling out great phrasing and chord structure riffs while the lead guitar is up higher with the main riffs. Live performance has the added effect of reverberating bass, and in this case it worked magnificently to record it. Studio albums rarely EVER allow that effect in. Guitar and bass players.........listen to this song carefully!

Listen to Chuck Berry's original of this song and then listen to THIS. The White race is the true master of Rock N' Roll. Groups like the Stones, Humble Pie, Allman Bros and many others proved it !!
Edgar Brocke
I found this album on a Maxell cassette back in the eighties. I thought it was a bootleg. Ha ha!! Great tunes!!

This version is actually at a slower tempo than their studio version, but closer to Berry's. I put all 3 in my "Stones..covering" playlist. Thanks for the upload!

Thank you for posting this video. I remember buying this album back in 1970 or thereabouts, and it really was a good album.

Mon album des Stones préféré. Je l'écoutais en boucle sur un vinyle dans mon adolescence.
