Rush - The Camera Eye - Lyrics Below

Rush - The Camera Eye - Lyrics Below Please check out my wildlife channel /> LYRICS Grim faced and forbidding Their faces closed tight An angular mass of New Yorkers Pacing in rhythm Race the oncoming night They chase through the streets of Manhattan Head first humanity Pause at a light Then flow through the streets of the city They seem oblivious To a soft spring rain Like an English rain So light, yet endless From a leaden sky The buildings are lost In their limitless rise My feet catch the pulse And the purposeful stride I feel the sense of possibilities I feel the wrench of hard realities The focus is sharp in the city Wide angle watcher On life's ancient tales Steeped in the history of London Green and grey washes In a wispy white veil Mist in the streets of Westminster Wistful and weathered The pride still prevails Alive in the streets of the city Are they oblivious To this quality? A quality Of light unique to Every city's streets Pavements may teem With intense energy But the city is calm In this violent sea Please check out my wildlife channel

Part of RUSH's charm...the build up. They're not racing towards the selling bits, they're compiling anticipatory tension.

I love this! The band makes us wait a full 3:30 seconds before giving us the first chorus. It still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up.
paul elliott
One of their mightiest, yet under mentioned Brilliant from the opening crowd noise, each piece moves in to the next with grace an power, the lyrics are clever, knowing and marvellously acute about city life - the playing is just Rush. None better. Cool video too, love the images and the drifting quality of the shots Very good post Keep it 2⃣1⃣1⃣2⃣

"I feel the sense of possibilities. I feel the wrench of hard realities. The focus is sharp in the city". 5:40 . This part of the song always lifts me 2 feet off the ground since 1983. Amazing.

Austin Schilling
Big Rush fan for over 15 years.  Derrick, at 8:56-8:58 could Geddy be saying "Hello, Good Mornin Gov"? That's what it sounds like to these 31 year old ears....
Kent Mains
One of my favorites from Rush but I hadn't heard it in years. Thanks for the cool video!
goldsmice
For years I thought he was saying "Wine and new orchard" and was, in fact, disappointed when I learned the lyric is actually "Wide-angle watcher." The former, while it makes no sense, somehow seemed more poetic and deep.

Rush Is awesome.
Peace & Love
At 8:56 in the song, if you listen very closely you can hear someone talking. I wonder who it is and what they're saying? It's been bugging me ever since I first heard this song when the album came out because I noticed it as it was cranking through my headphones.

I cried hearing this. Because it's simply something given to us mortals. Yes, this is their gift and contribution to music. I'm lucky that I lived during these times. I was lucky to hear them. This is what we call musicians and musicianship. This is called ENERGY.
Mike Whitman

Nothing compares to a band where every member is as important as the other and they all know it.

the year was (80-81) when 'Rush ; Moving Pictures' album was recorded at the famous 'Le Studio' in Morin-Heights, Quebec. many other famous artists and bands such as ; The Police, Céline Dion, The Bee Gees, Bryan Adams, Chicago, David Bowie, The Jeff Healey Band, Keith Richards and Cat Stevens, to name just a few who have recorded there. the recording process of the master tapes transferring the audio information onto the steel press for making the vinyl albums is the most critical part in the recording process, this RUSH album is almost flawless, as a 'huge' audiophile myself, i'm very critical of the audio aspect of what makes or brakes an album and there's one specific moment i cringe in pain and horror on this whole album every time i listen to it and it's at 8:55 when you can hear TWO FUCKING IDIOTS standing next to the press and immortalized their argument for all to hear, i'd would like to find these idiots and thunder-punch them their faces for ruining an otherwise perfect album. if only Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart would have this album digitally remastered and remove the voices of these morons, i'd be in musical heaven.
spiralacrobat
the focus is sharp in the city.
Tom Schooner
The snare rolls and the bass drum are spot on at the start, so much energy in this track, so much raw rockin' grooves, upbeat tempo alternating with clever time changes and interplay genius. Best ever. 🎼🎹🎸🎩🎩

my favourite song on moving pictures a rush classic

Rush Thanks for this trip
Doug Burgoyne
Just had a major trip to the past in my head and heart. Ohhh, the nostalgia this song (and album) brings rushing back. I was 17, dealing with all the things 17 year olds experience (good and bad)...moving pictures was a refuge. All these years later, never gets old. Never sounds dated. Never fails to transport me back. Thank you Rush!
